My name is MUHIRE Jean, from the department of Environmental Health Sciences, School of Public Health. On behalf of module leader JMV i would like to introduce this module of Geographical Information System.
This course serves to introduce Environmental Health Sciences students to the basic knowledge and skills in Geographical Information system. The course combines theoretical knowledge with practical applications, allowing students to demonstrate their competencies through both individual work and group interactions and quizzes.

Aims of the module
The aim of the module is to equip the learners with the basic knowledge and skills in Geographical Information system. This module equips learners with skills to use ArcGIS which geospatial software to view, edit, manage and analyse geographic health information data.
The course contains the Following chapters:
Chapter 1: Introduction to ArcGIS

At the end of the module the successful learner will be able to demonstrate competency in the following domains related to geospatial data:
- Explaining what is Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
- Understanding different versions of ArcGIS
- Getting to know the ArcMap Interface
- Understanding Layers, features and various attributes.
- Map different Healthcare issues and advice decision making
