Can you remind me the definition of Epidemiology?
Epidemiology is the study of the distribution and determinants of health-related states in specified populations and the application of this study to control health problems.
Do you see any usage of your Epidemiology I course during the Covid-19 pandemic?
Yes, I did. Because first and foremost, epidemiology studies the who, when, when, why and how in order to prevent diseases and promote health.
Epidemiologists have helped in putting in place some decisions to prevent or lower the risks of contracting the virus like social distancing, washing hands, wearing protective masks in public etc…. as it is believed that this could flatten the curve and reduce the severity of the outbreak. These measures have shown tremendous results.
My expectations are to learn further how to identify different health related problems and best way make decisions that benefit the population.
