Brief description of aims and content

 This module introduces students to general theories in environment management and climate change mitigation strategies with reference to local realities. The core discourse is addressing economic development without undermining and damaging the natural environment. Hence, it looks at policy options geared towards environmental protection, programs and operations. The content enables students to sensitize, train and advocate at local levels on climate change issues and effects, ways of promoting better environment management systems. The content thus focuses on understanding climate change and its impact, concept of natural resources (factor endowment), environmental economics, risk management and mitigation strategies, disaster management, education and public awareness, waste management, and framework for environmental protection.
