1. 1.       Brief description of aims and content

Local Economic development module integrates theoretical discussion with practical work in the areas of background to local economic development, principles and strategies for local economic development, institutional environment and governance structure, rural and urban agriculture and mechanism for measuring rural and urban agriculture in local economic development. The overall objective is to introduce to the students the concepts of economic development, strategic alignment of rural economics to national development agenda and enabling environment as a precondition for sustainable local economic development. The aforementioned will enable the graduate to determine the appropriate role of local governance and be able to assess the local economic development competitiveness
