Brief description of aims and content

The module of Leadership and Ethics is meant to introduce and familiarize students with key features in governance and morality in the face of global corruption and drought of political leaders on the continent of Africa. In light of these, the module places emphasis on theories of leadership: style, traits and behaviours. It further examines ethical philosophies in the areas of teleological theory, deontological ethics, Divine command, cognitivism and non-cognitivism, fairness, justices (procedural and distributive justices), contractualism, along philosophers like Immanuel Kant, Cato the Elder, Socrates, Plato and Aristotle, Jeremy and Niccolo Machiavelli. The module will equip prospective local government leaders with the necessary knowledge and skills that enable them to identify the most moral behaviour in their governance; organizational and institutional level and District to sufficiently address pertinent problems.
