ECO3231: Project Management and EValuation
Trimester 2


This module has been disigned for the year four students, all options and is a module which will help students aquiring knowledge and skills in Project Management and Evaluation.
Briefly, the current labor market do require students to be proactive and innovative which may lead them to create jobs
for themselves without really depending on the public sector, therefore this module is good enough as will provide relevant
skills and practicals to students so that they will be able to develop businesses or projects and manage them well,
which will result to solve many socio and economic problems most of communities face including ours in particural.
The module covers three parts which will be taught through 9 units and E-Tivity at the end of each, so students are welocome and required to be active participants in this module.

Brief description and aims:

To help students to be able:

a) To get a clear picture of the dimensions and aspects of development projects.

b) To broaden the student’s knowledge of Project Management so that he/she is able to relate to a real business situation.

c)  To know how to efficiently manage development projects as well as how to analyze the data in the context of planning development projects in the country.

d)  To analyze investment projects

e)  To help students develop self-awareness of the technical and business abilities they need to develop and survive in business.

f) To know what critical path means in relation to the types of project

g)  To enhance the technical and management aspects associated with effectively managing projects.

Learning Outcomes:

Having successfully completed the module, students should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:

(1) Broad and integrated understanding of the well-established management and evaluation of projects

(2) To accumulate knowledge and critical understanding of the key characteristics of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial ventures.

(3) Describe the phases of the project lifecycle

(4) Discuss the steps of the planning process

 Having successfully completed the module, students should be able to:

(5) Identify and analyze quantitative methods problems and issues related to the subject area of management and evaluation of projects

(6) To analyze and manage projects

(7) To develop critical analytical abilities to investigate the contributions of different' types' of entrepreneurs and SMEs in various contexts.

Having successfully completed the module, students should be able to:

(8) Deploy the key techniques of the discipline management and evaluation of projects with confidence  and use it to support and enhance work.

Having successfully completed the module, students should be able to:

(9) Exercise autonomy and initiative in some activities at a professional Level and take responsibility for own work and manage the work of others
