MD80552:Social and Community Medicine III (Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation and Palliative care)
Semester 1

This module aims to provide a foundation in the knowledge, skills, and attitudes in general and specific areas of Palliative Care. It will address the basics of palliative care, a holistic approach to the management of common medical conditions in palliative care, including but not limited to Pain and symptom management, Spiritual, Psychosocial, Ethical, and legal issues in Palliative Care (SPEL).

The module will also discuss more about Physical and rehabilitative medicine with special focus on Fundamentals of physical and rehabilitation medicine

1.     The cultural background of rehabilitation

2.     The biological and clinical background of rehabilitation

3.     Essential methods of assessing patient’s needs

4.     Rehabilitation settings and the concept of interdisciplinary care

5.     Effectiveness of rehabilitation interventions

6.     Ethical implications of working with people with disabilities
