Basic Plastic Surgery I: General principles in wound healing, grafts, flaps and upper extremity trauma
Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
This module aims at providing an in depth evidence-based and updated knowledge, clinical judgement, technical and basic operative skills and approach in wound healing, grafting, flaps and upper extremity trauma.
The course content is organized as follows:
Unit 1:
- History of plastic surgery
- Wounds and wound healing
- Fundamental techniques in plastic surgery
- Skin grafts and flaps
- Pedicle flaps and free flaps
- Care of the surgical patient
- Nutrition and the surgical patient
Unit 2:
- Hand/upper extremity I: Cadaver dissection Anatomy and upper limb cadaver-based flap course
- Hand/upper extremity I: Trauma, soft tissue injuries, flexor tendons
- Hand/upper extremity I: Trauma, nerve injuries and repair
- Hand/upper extremity I: Trauma, fractures
