    Introduction

    In this Unit, you will learn about the laws of thermodynamics. It is the generalization of the law of conservation of energy. You will study the concepts of work, heat and internal energy, entropy, heat engine, and statement of laws of thermodynamics. 

    Aim of the unit 

     The main aim of this unit is to allow you to explain the basic concepts and principles of the state of matter, solve problems, and perform experiments related to the state of matter. 

      Intended learning outcomes of this unit

      After studying this Unit you will be able to:

    •  Define the concepts of work, internal energy, and amount of heat in thermodynamics, entropy heat engine, etc. 
    • State and solve problems related to the laws of thermodynamics
    • Preform experiments related to the laws of  thermodynamics

    5.1  Zero law of thermodynamics  

    5.2   First Law of Thermodynamics

    5.3   Second Law of thermodynamics

    5.4   Third Law of thermodynamics
