PE80444 is a module taught to year 2 students in the combination of educational psychology. The module tackles different domains related to internal mental processes including attention, sensation, perception, memory, intelligence (human and artificial), etc. It also covers topics related to the brain as the main regulator of thinking, reasoning, judgement, problem solving... For a better understanding of cognitive aspects, topics such as planning and goal setting, cognitive control and inhibition, self-regulation and metacognition, consciousness... will be explored.
The module aims at providing students with knowledge and understanding of human growth and development from conception to senile. It introduces students to the concept of developmental psychology, principles, determinants, and theories of human development. The module describes physical, cognitive, socio-emotional, personality and moral patterns of people at different stages of lifespan. It helps prospective teachers draw educational implications for providing age-appropriate instruction to learners and shaping learners’ behavior.
