Semester 1

The purpose of this module is to enable students to describe theatre as a living and entertaining art form, appreciate drama as an educational tool for the improvement of the individual, introduce students to various forms of dramatic techniques for effective sensitisation of the audience and to different major classic plays, analysis of selected plays from Africa and the world.

The module aims at carrying out a research on the work of one internationally recognized literary writer. An attempt will be made to analyse and evaluate the work not only in terms of its artistic qualities, but also in terms of its relevance to its socio-historical context and to universal human concerns.
