Semester 1

This module is intended to help the BDT students to understand the general principles, terminology, diagnostic procedures, and basic concepts of pathology; to identify pathological processes at the cellular and gross anatomical level and correlate these with the clinical symptoms and signs. It also introduces the student to the detailed pathology of diseases that affect the respiratory, cardiovascular, nervous, gastro-intestinal, endocrine, urogenital, musculoskeletal, dermatological and haematolymphoid systems, and forensic medicine especially those with direct or indirect relationship with oral diseases or treatments.

DTH8353: Oral Microbiology
Semester 1

Oral Microbiology is a foundational module designed to introduce dental students to the microorganisms that inhabit the oral cavity. It covers the role of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other microbes in maintaining oral health and contributing to diseases such as dental caries, periodontal disease, and oral infections. Understanding oral microbiology is essential for effective diagnosis, prevention, and management of oral diseases in clinical practice.

This module is designed to prepare students to assist dental professionals in managing dental patients and servicing dental equipment when necessary.
