This module aim to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills required to apply principles of nutrition, exercise physiology,
and dietary planning to support the health, performance,
recovery, and nutritional well-being of sportspersons.
Module Learning Objectives
By the end of this module, students should be able to:
1. Explain the principles of training and physical fitness and their
relationship with nutrition and athletic performance.
2.Describe the physiological responses and adaptations to
exercise, including fatigue and recovery.
3.Explain the major energy systems used during exercise and how
exercise intensity and duration affect energy metabolism.
4.Explain how carbohydrates, fats, and proteins contribute to
exercise and recovery.
5. Describe the roles of important vitamins, minerals, electrolytes,
and water in athletes.
6. Determine the nutritional and hydration needs of sportspersons
according to their sport, training demands, and individual
characteristics.
7. Explain nutritional requirements for different types of sports,
